Status of Camel Production in Yemen (Marib and Shabwa)

Summary

Livestock make a significant contribution to the farming economy in Yemen because of their ability to use the crop residues and grasses, which cannot be used perfectly with the absent of livestock. Although, there are more than 10 millions head of cows, sheep, goats and camels, but their production is not enough for the increase demand of meat and milk for people. Yemen is imported these prod uct to satisfy people demand. So, more attention is needed to improve and better use of camel production of meat and milk. This will help to cover part of the people needs. Camels are the best animals to survive in desert because of its ability to reprod uce and produce valuable nourishment for human leaves in the desert.
