Summary

The study was conducted for five consecutive seasons (1998 – 2001) in the experimental farm of the Central Highlands Research Station and on farmer fields in Yareem, Balasan and Jahran areas. It aims at studying performance of the "Qa'a-Elhql – 7" Wheat variety that was selected from the Regional Bread Wheat Yield Trial – SA (RBWYT-SA 97/98) introduced from the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Area (ICARDA). During the adaptive study, it was observed that "Qa'a Elhaql – 7" Wheat variety has shown superiority over other investigated varieties including checks (Bohoth-14 and Bohoth-15). It has realized a yield increase of 44% and 23% over that realized by the varieties "Bohoth-14" and "Bohoth-15" respectively in on-station trials as well as farmers' fields in 1999, 2000, and 2001 seasons.
