A field experiment was carried out at the experimental farm of The Regional Agricultural Research Station for the Southern Coastal areas, El-kod, Abyan Governorate, during two growing seasons (91/1992 and 1992/1993). It aimed at identifying the effect of sowing dates on yield and quality of onion variety (Bafetaim). The experiment consisted of five treatments of seed sowing dates in nursery (15 July, 15 August, 15 September, 15 November and 15 December) and replicated four times using the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). Results showed significant differences between the different sowing dates in yield and quality of Onion. Earliest sowing (15 July, 15 August and 15 September) gave better yield than later sowing dates (15 November and 15 December). Flowering and double bulb formation were found lower in later sowing dates (15 November and 15 December).
