This study was carried out in Wadi Hadhramout with the aim of describing kinds ( species) of the local animals; their shape, productive and genital properties, and recognizing diet sources being followed in feeding. The survey method was used to collect data from study sample ( 104 animal breeders) through interviews. Results showed that 95.19% of respondents depend on natural pastures for feeding their animals. Most important shrubs used for feeding were: Acacia tortils, Ziziphns leucodermis, Prosopis juliflora, Prosopis SP, Ziziphus spina-christi, Merremisomalensis and Acacia ehrenbregiana. Animals in Wadi Hadhramout have been characterized by much amount of mixture especially between local and foreign species especially Najdi. In addition, problems of grazing have been identified, most significant of which was the lack of pastures. Main important diseases affecting animals in the survey area were: Bronchitis, Mastitis, and diarrhea. Moreover, it was known that the purpose of animal breeding is realizing some household benefits including high income. Therefore, the study has identified a number of problems facing livestock improvement and suggested suitable solutions to problems facing animal breeders in the surveyed area.
