THE EFFECT OF SOME OILS IN PROTICTING STORED FABA BEAN SEEDS FROM Bruchidius incarantus

Summary

To know the effect of vegetables oils (sesame and date plan oils) and petrolium oil no. 10 in comparison with insecticide (Actellic 50%) on controlling the faba bean beetles. An experiment was conducted in a store for three seasons (92-94) at the Central Highlands Research Station, Dhamar in which five treatments have been used . The results have shown that sesame and date palm oils as well as the petroleum oil & the insecticide gave the best results to central the activity of the beetles . The rate of infection for the check has dramatically increased until the whole seeds were completely infected (100% infection) . The treated seeds were examined for their viability under farmers, conditions, and found highly viable for their germination in the field .
