EVALUATING SOME LOCAL GERMOPLASM OF LENTIL COLLECTED FROM SOME AREAS IN NORTHERN & CENTRAL HIGHLAND IN YEMEN

Summary

Twenty two Accessions of local germplasm of lentil (Lens Culinaris Mod.) were evaluated for eight agronomic characteristic during winter season of the year 1992. There was a wide range of variation for all the characters. Seventy percent of the tested accessions showed lowest number of days to flowering and maturity. The tallest plant and the highest number of primary, secondary benches and number of pods per plant accessions were obtained from the accessions which collected from the Northern Highlands region, while the shortest and the lowest for these characters were obtained from the accession that collected from the Central Highland region. The highest yields were obtained from acession YG-35005 Followed by YG-35006, YG-35012 and YG-35003, and their yields gave 2420, 2164, 1792 and 1600 Kg/ha respectively.
