The produced orange in Louder and Modia of Abyan Govemorate do not gain natural color as a result of the climate of this area, particularly due to the high temperatures during maturity season. The farmers are compelled to sell their products at low prices because of the green color in comparison with other areas were the color is gained naturally and the farmers sell their products at good price. Degreening of commercial amounts of orange was conducted in louder and Modia in farmers stores during October -November 1997 at temperature 27± C. The coloring agent used was 2-chlorethyle phosphonic acid at a rate of 0.25 ml active substance/m3 (i.e equivalent to 0.625 ml Etherl/m3). The results showed that the orange gain their natural color and the net return factor (cost of degreening to income) was 1.72.
