Ahmed Omer Al-jereidy
Summary

12 wheat grain varieties were tested against Khapra beetle (T. granarium), on the basis of emerged insects, larvae on different varieties, and percentage of damaged grains. The results indicated that none of these varieties is immune against Khapra and that susceptibility of differs from one variety to another. Sw/89/8, Sw/84/19, Sw/83/2 and Sw/88/7 are more resistant against Khapra beetle. The damage percentage did not exceed 8% in three-month time and minimum number of larvae and insects were found on these varieties. The other varieties -Ahgaf, Sw/88/6 and kaliansona- were the most susceptible varieties and have the highest number of insects and larvae. Feeding of different stages of Kahapra, results in a significant (5%) loss in the weight of grains. Ahgaf and Sw/88/6 showed the highest losses of weight as compared with other varieties.
