Summary

Two field experiments were carried out in Nasser’s Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aden University, during two consecutive growing seasons 2000l2001. This work aimed at comparing four hybrids of sun flower (Hysun-45, Hysun-46 CQ, Hysun–33 and white Chinese cv.) on growth and yield under Yemeni coastal areas. Randomized complete block design with three replicates was used. The obtained results indicated that hybrids did not significantly differ in terms of growth and yield except of plant height, flowering date, 1000 seeds weight and seed oil content %, in both seasons. Results also stated that “White Chinese” hybrid had higher plant (164 and 190.50 cm), higher weight of 1000 seeds (54,03 and 58.32g) in both seasons respectively, and lower percentage of seed oil content (34.43%) in the second year. Similarly, “Hysun-46” gave more seed/head while “Hysun-33” gave less percentage of empty seed/head
