Jamal Al-madhidi Fakraldin Al-eimad
Summary

Caseous lymphadenitis was studied in Dhamarian sheep and goat, in different region of Dhamar governorate of Yemen. 204 cases of abscesses in 19 flocks (614 of sheep and 20 of goats) were observed. Infection percentage was 32%, and all infected cases was acute except one chronic case. The disease was recorded in all ages. Abscesses were found in superficial lymph nodes, 36% in the prescapular lymph node, 32% in the head lymph nodes, and 22% in the prefemoral lymph nodes. Abscesses were found in lesser percentage out of lymph nodes such as tail area and chest. Four bacterial species were isolated. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from 73% of the isolates. Abscesses in lung and liver of experimentally infected rabbits were produced using pus with Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis taken from sheep abscesses. Gentamicin came to be most effective antibiotics against isolated species of bacteria followed by tetracycline. The best method of treatment of these cases include surgical removal of abscesses plus 3-5 days injection with Gentamicin that needed to be repeated 3 weeks later.
