Summary

This experiment was conducted at Al-aakel farm at Marib region, of loam to silty loam soil for two successive seasons(1990/91- 1991/92. Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used. Evaluated were eight varieties originating from different sources in addition to variety Sonalika as a check. Results indicated, that two varieties were best in yield as compared to the check. This was due to higher grain yield and positive correlation with bio-yield, harvest index, number of ears/m2, ear length, number of seeds per ear and 1000 kernel weight (g). Accordingly, it is recommended to conduct further studies concerning crop management for these two varieties.
