The study evaluated fifteen cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) varieties, i.e. VITA – 4, VITA – 5, TVx 3236 – 01G, TVx 3627 – 012F, TVx 3671 – 14-01D, TVx 4072 – 1-01D, VITA – 1, VITA – 3, VITA – 6, TVx 1836 – OBJ, TVx 2394 – O2 F, TVx 2912 – 011D, TVx 2938 – 02 G, TVx 4272 – OBD and the adapted variety TVu4557, at the southern costal region of Yemen in 1995 and 1996 during winter seasons at the experimental farm, El-Kod. The correlation analysis showed that grain yield was highly and positively significant correlated with days to 50% flowering, days to mid-pod set, biological yield, 1000 seed weight and harvest index. Results showed that the varieties TVx3627 – 012F, TVx 3671 – 14-01D, TVx 4072 – 1-01D, VITA – 1, VITA – 3, TVx 1836 – OBJ, TVx 2912 – 011D, TVx 2938 – 02G were superior over the adapted variety TVu4557 in grain yield, biological yield and 1000 seed weight.
