This study aims to preserve the fertility of agricultural soil and produce sufficient, high quality, safe and healthy food. The descriptive method was used in analyzing data and information, in addition to the historical method in terms of evaluating the ancient agriculture systems and criticizing the current practices of agricultural activities. Five basic searches themes were tackled in the study. Results showed that Yemeni traditional agriculture through the sequent generations relied on the use organic fertilizers to preserve fertility of agricultural lands. This method continued till the 80s of the past century when agriculture shifted towards the use of chemical fertilizers which since have been used excessively leading to contaminating the soil and surrounding environment, and damaging human health. The study stressed on the comprehensive management of the chemical fertilizers and rationalizing their usage. It also called to mobilize public and civil efforts to initiate manufacturing various types of organic fertilizers to provide sufficient amounts for Yemen agricultural lands as a step towards gradually turn over into organic agriculture. The study has also provided a number of conclusions and recommendations.
