This experiment was carried out at the experimental farm of Nasser,s faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Tuban Delta, Lahej Governorate, Yemen, during 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 seasons to investigate the response of sesame local (Baladi) red to levels of nitrogen and phosphours fertilization on growth characters, yield and yield components. The randomized complete blocks design was used with four replicates. It included four treatments of fertilizers namely; A) 0 (control, with out fertilizer); B) 48 Kg N/ha + 24 Kg P2O5/ha, C) 70 Kg N/ha + 36 Kg P2O5/ha and D) 95 Kg N/ha + 48 Kg P2O5/ha. Nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization had significantly affected plant hiegh, dry plant weight and seed yeild of plant, but not on length of fruiting zone from soil surface and number of branches/plant in both seasons. Nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization had shown significant effect on number of capsules/plant and harvest index in the second season, and no significant effect on weihgt of 1000 seeds and yeild per hectare in both seasons. The treatment 70 kg N/ha + 36 Kg P2O5/ha gave highest value of plant hiegh ( 103.50 cm and 102 cm) and highest value of numbre of branches ( 4.15 and 7.50 branches/plant) in both seasons. The same treatment realized highest value of numbre of capsules/plant ( 32.95 and 45.50), highest yeild of plant ( 3.65 and 6.70 gm), highest value of harvest index ( 20.56 and 23.72%) and highest seeds yeild of hectare ( 579.90 and 935.36 Kg/ha) in both seasons.
