The date palm Dubas Ommattisus lybicus De Berg is considered one of the major problems in date palm cultivation in Yemen especially in Hadhramout and Mahrah Governarates. It was introduced to Yemen from Oman in the year 2000 and spread in the south west direction. Up to June 2006, it covered all date palm areas in Mahrah, Hadhramout and Shabwah. By 2008, it was recorded in Lahij province. Efficiency of some insecticides was tested annually in Mukalla Agriculture Research Station. Four best insecticide of the last four years were identified among which was Deices 2.5 EC. The other three were listed in the list of panned insecticides adopted by the ministry of agriculture in 2006. In the spring generation of 2007, other insecticides were tested in two areas ( Doan, Hadhramout and Badiat Beit Ziad, Mahrah. Verification trials were conducted in three areas ( 2009 & 2010). Results showed that insecticides were good ( Deices ,Flysis, Lanser, Ram and Gardina). But, most insecticides have shown some negative side effect to honey-bees and workers during spraying campaigns except Decices, which is recommended for Dobas insect control. It could be used while honey bees hives are in the wadies beside Date Palm trees. But, if another effective insecticide is used, hives should be removed from spraying areas.
