Residual Analvsis of some pesticides Used on Qat in some Qat growing Areas andmethods for Residual Reduction

Summary

Oat is cultivated on large area in Yemen mainly in mountain region. Oat is attacked by several pests largely Jassids, Powdery mildew, Mites. A large number of qat growing-farmers depend on pesticides to control pests on Oat farm on one side and on on the other to motivate growth of new branches. Mixing a number of pesticides is a common practice among large number of Oat growers; In addition, some farmers do not pay adequate attention to safety period of pesticides. This research aimed to analysize residuals of pesticides used on Oat and the affect of washing qat by water and a mixture of water and food salt in reducing insecticides amount. Samples of qat have been collected from different qat growing areas and markets. Samples were sending to different pesticides laboratories in Egypt,Oman and Austria. Result indicated that wishing Oat samples with water or "'."ater plus food salt (1"/.) reduced pesticides residual by 25.5 and 40'/. respectively as compared to the control samples.
