Summary

Mesquite trees are distributed over a vast area of Wadi Hadramout which mainly scattered on bottom and banks of run- off waters and agricultural lands. Experiment and observations were conducted in combating Mesquite trees by using petroleum by-products and mechanical cutting. The experiment and observations showed that all petroleum by-products have actual effect of killing trees as well as de-regeneration of tree growth; besides cutting trees at the root level do the killing. Kerosene was the better petroleum by-product for its un-pollution to soil and also the cutting trees at the root system. Kerosene may be poured directly over the stumps of felled trees which must be cover the whole surface of stumps and buds on the base stem up to the starting point root system. The kerosene quantity is depended on the volume of the tree stump.
