Summary

The research aimed at reviewing the lists of insects collected, their definition, and the trend toward the development of a unified list of insect fauna in Yemen. The Yemeni environment is rich in biodiversity, especially in the types of insects, and there are many of them bear the name Yemen in their name composition. Many of those insects are considered endemic or unique in the world. Despite the political instability in Yemen for the past decade, much has been achieved in the field of gathering, identifying, and classifying insects, mostly through technical assistance from international organizations. So far, 5218species of insects have been identified in Yemen only, without the Socotra archipelago, all of which belong to 25 insect orders, most of which belong to five orders, which are the most numerous collected and defined from Yemen. Coleoptera ranked first (25.11%), followed by Diptera in the second rank (15.5%). Lepidoptera ranked third (14.62%), followed by Hymenoptera (12.3%), Hemiptera (11.1%), and the rest ranks scored lower rates.
