Summary

This research was carried out during 2008-2009, aiming at identifying obstacles that retard the conservative development of pastures and develop measures to prevent its decline. It focuses on three important areas for promising natural pastures namely; Ibb province, Ibb Governorate; Sharab Al rawnah, Taiz Governorate and Zabeed, Al Hudaidah Governorate. The study concluded that productivity of pastures, its quality, and types greatly differ from a place to another. It attributed such variation to differences of locations, topography, population, pasture abuse, and the lack of clear laws pasture development. All these reasons cause low productivity, decreasing number of pastoral plants, and loss of valuable nutritive plants. Therefore, the study concluded that there is a need to promote and carry out efforts for development of pastoral land and replanting of vegetative pastoral plants appropriate for each area; encouraging suitable farming practices that lead to higher production, and finally rationally managing pastoral sites in a scientific manner and improving rules and regulations for better use and maintenance.
