PRESENT STATUS OFAFRICAN GREENING DISEASE IN Al - BAYDA ANDABYAN GOVERNORATES AND MINIMIZING ITS SPREAD

Summary

Being a destructive disease, Greening disease causes the death of millions of citrus trees in south-east Asia and Saudi Arabia. The African greening disease was observed in Yemen along with its vector Trioza erytrae in some governorates at altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. While it was totally absent in coastal plains of the country. Results of this study (conducted during 1999/2000) revealed that the disease exists in Mukei ras area of AIBayda governorate where the cool weather favors its spread. To avoid occurrence of the disease and its spread, this study suggested an intensive control measu re program aiming at minimizing disease and vector population in contaminated regions and launching a serious agricultu ral quarantine measures.
