Summary

In the season 98/99 an experiment was conducted in three locations in Wadi Hadramout vary from 3-5 km between locations for the selective control of annual grasses in irrigated onion (Allium cepa L.) under local conditions . Treatments included Agil 100 EC at 0.1 , 0.12 and 0.2 kg /ha compared with fusilade at 0.8 kg /ha standard herbicide and untreated plot in the field naturaly infested with harmful annual grass weeds . Results indicated that there were no significant differences between the rates of Agil neither between them and the Fusilade tested but there was highly significa nt difference between the chemical and the weedy control plot w hich gave highly yielded over 40 t I ha compared with 29.8 obtained from the untreated plot . So because of the highly rate of Fusilade we can use Agil at 1.5 l /ha instead of the standard Fusilad at 4.0 I /ha for controlling the annual grasses post emergence in onion crop
