EVALUATION OF SOME INSECTICIDES FOR THE CONTROL OF THE CITRUS BUTTER.FLY PAPILIO DEMOLEUS (LEPIDOPTERA : PAPILIONIDAE )

Summary

The lemon butterfly (Papilie demoleus L.) is considered a very important pest for citrus in citrus nurses at Al-Hawtah, Lahj governorate. The insecticides, mainly : Fenpreopthrin (Danitol 20) methidathion (Super acide 40), Prefenophes (selecron 500) and Pirimiphos-methyl (Actellic 50) were tested for the control of this pest, at the research farm of Nasir's college of agriculture in field trials earned out in 1988/89 and 1989/90. The application for each insecticide was given for three tines with in interval of two weeks between each spray and the other. All insecticides gave good rsults for the control. It was obseived tht predators including the preying mantid (Sphodromantis virids ) birds and spider mites fed on larvae and pupae of P.demoleus and contribute to its control.
