Summary

Two experiments were carried out in the seasons 90/91- 91/92 in Souwairi research farm to study the effect of cutting and curing with Mankozip “85%” for tubers of two potatoes varieties (Desiray and Diamont) on yield and quality in Wadi Hadramout. Five treatments were studied, three of which without curing, while two with curing after cutting, with Mankozip 85%. Results indicated that there are no significant differences on yield between treatments (p = 0.5). This shows the same ability of cutting of the two varities. On the other hand, about same quality was obtained in the two seasons. Results about mildews in the first season revealed that the best method was “planting directly after cutting and curing with Mankozip 85%”. This treatment gave good protection from mildews to the tubers significantly as compared with other treatments. But, in the second season, there was no mildew infection occurring. Also results indicated that there was no significant differences at 5% level of probability between unmarketable yield and quality specifications of the two varieties.
