Summary

This study was carried out at December 2012, and the objective was producing a digital map of the distribution of soil salinity in the study area (Mawza, Mukha and Dobab districts) in Taiz gov. by GIS to identify the affected areas. The results showed variation in the distribution of salts in the study area where values of salt ranges were from 1 to 100 ECse dSm-1 and the average was 13.6 dSm-1, The produced map showed five classes of salinity levels (five administrative areas of the salinity) area of the first class was 38%, while area of the second class was 21%, the third was 23%, the fourth was 13%, and the fifth was 5%. The expected productivity of the crops according to tolerance of salinity was classed into (sensitive, moderate-sensitive, moderate-tolerant, tolerant and very tolerant), and the productivity of all crops in the first group will give 100%, while sensitive crops in the second group will give 75% of the productivity only. In the third group will give 50%. The fourth group was specified to sensitive and moderate-sensitive crops, because it will give productivity less than 50%, and the moderate-tolerant crops will give 75%, and the fifth group where salinity ranges between 7.4-47, was limited to very tolerant crops and represents an area of only 5%.
