Summary

The study was conducted in the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, University of Thamar–Yemen, during the period (19/3-22/4/2009 AD) on broiler Chickens (Habbard) to investigate the effect of replacement Part of Soybean meal (SBM) by different levels of crushed Nigella sativa Seeds (CNSS) 0, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5% on the performance, carcass traits and some constituents of blood serum values. A total number of 144 unsexed broiler chicks 7-days old. The experiment chicks were randomly distributed into four groups each in three replications 12 birds each; 1st group acted as control (T1) 0% (CNSS), whereas 2nd (T2), 3rd (T3) and 4th (T4) groups received 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5% (CNSS) ,respectively. Birds were placed in 12 floor pens and reared for 42 days. A basal ration (the control) and other rations were formulated to be caloric and nitrogenous as recommended by earlier researchers. Both diet and water were given ad libitum. Results revealed that CNSS at different levels have not effected significantly (P< 0.05) on carcass traits and serum creatinine. Whereas total serum protein, albumin and uric acid have increased but serum glucose and cholesterol have decreased significantly (P < 0.05) in treated groups compared to control group.
