This experiment was conducted during two consecutive seasons (2001/2002 and 2002/2003) at Research farm , Elkod Agricultural Research station under simulated spate irrigation using the completely randomized block design for the four treatments with five replicates. The treatments were: Mould board plough MF150, Disc plough MF765, Chisel plough MF24 and control "Without ploughing". The average depth of plough during the two seasons reached 23, 24 and 35 cm respectively. The average yield of Cotton during the two seasons for the four treatments reached 2133, 2388 , 1775 and 1861 kg/ha which differed significantly at p0.05 level. The disc plough was more effective and differed significantly from other treatments except the mould board treatment. Average weights of weeds with narrow leaves for the four treatments were 33.1, 24.0, 40 .9 and 46.7 gm/m2. The disc plough treatment was significantly effective than other treatments. Weights of broad- leaf weeds were 10.6, 7.2, 10.6 and 25 .8 gm/m2 . Accordingly , disc plough was superior as compared to other treatments . Main weeds identified were Dismostachya bipinata, and Solaum dubium.
