Groundnut is a major cash crop cultivated in Abyan Delta of the Yemen. It is a major source of protein. It also improves soil fertility through nitrogen fixation by root knot bacteria Rhizobia spp. Present study involved studying six isolates of bacteria collected from seed storages in Abyan Delta (cv. Ashford ). Selective media were utilized to determine morphological and biochemical characteristics of these bacteria isolates. Examination of seeds showed that the seeds of groundnut cv. Ashford were contaminated with bacteria Pseudomonas spp. This bacteria has not been recorded as a pathogen infecting the crop in the field in the Yemen .
