This experiment was conducted during 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 seasons at laboratory of AI-Kod Agriculture Research Station, Entomology Section, on seeds of sorghum (beyni variety). Sorghum seeds were mixed with natural powders as a method of protection from insect of small grain borer (Rhizopertha dominica) through storage period, which continued for eight months. Results showed varying impact of natural powders. AI-Neem powder, at dosage of 15 kg seeds, demonstrated the best results as compared to the control treatment at 5% (L.S.D). In the meantime, the use of Neem powder has increased percentage of germination . Other natural powders have also been successful as compared to the control. Sand powder was the least effective powder. In conclusion , natural powders can be used as natural pesticides for protecting stored Sorghum seeds from the insect of small grain borer.
