Summary

An experiment was carried out using 120 one-day-old unsexed chicks from (Rosse line) to study the possibility of using pea, cowpea and faba in broilers' diets. Chicks were divided into four treatments (T) each of three replications. • In T1, birds were fed on basal diet composed mainly of corn, soybean meal and broilers concentrate. • In T2, T3 and T4, Soybean meal was partly replaced (25%) by pea, cowpea and faba bean successively. The results demonstrated that pea, cowpea and faba bean could be used in broilers' diets in a reasonable percentage ( 25% of the total soybean meal) without any negative effect on birds performance ( Final Live body wieght, final wieght gain and feed consumption). The results shows that T2, T3 and T4 outdo T1 in feed efficiency and in storing energy and protein in the eatable parts of carcass ( about 2%). T1 excelled other treatments in protein consumption and protein efficiency (about 4% and 3%) Successively. Results also indicate that T1 found significantly higher than T2 in weight carcass. Percentage of gizzard in T3 was found significantly higher than all other treatments.
