The study was conducted in Abr-Othman village, Abyan Governorate in year 2000 to introduce to farmers the correct methods of groundnut drying and storage and to achieve higher production and quality especially high seed vitality for use in following season. It was implemented on fields of three groundnut farmers (Ashfored verity) in different sites. Two drying methods were used: traditional method (farmer spreads groundnuts on tarpaulin sheets on ground with about 2- 3 cm thickness) and the improved method (groundnuts covered with transparent plastic sheets held by wooden stands with nuts spread under cover with about 10 cm thickness. After drying period, groundnut beans were stored in warehouse stores under· local conditions in two types of bags (Jute bags) and Plastic bags (Polypropylene type) . Results showed that 9-12 days were appropriate period for drying groundnuts beans. Improved drying method protected groundnut beans from direct sunshine keeping thus high seeds vitality and germination . Germination percentage realized was about 92% especially with plastic bags which has also prevented beans losses during drying that caused by birds and other pests. Storage period could reach six months in warehouse stores under ambient conditions.
